✦ STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove rugs like this to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family income. Every pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, every knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collections across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, a journey begins before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully trim the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and passed through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges and fringe are hand-secured so it arrives at your home structurally sound and ready to use.

What you receive isn't just a rug. It's a one-of-a-kind textile that has survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and has been carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This vintage Turkish rug features a luminous ivory field covered edge to edge with a dense trellis of scrolling vines connecting rosette flowers in turquoise, soft mauve, and warm gold-brown. The fine, jewel-toned repeat is characteristic of Central Anatolian workshop weaving prized for its detail and balanced, colorful palette. At 142x224 cm, this is a large, statement-sized rug with enough color and pattern to become the focal point of a room.

✦ MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN

The dense floral trellis on this rug reflects a design tradition from Central Anatolia's fine workshop weaving, historically admired for intricate detail and jewel-toned palettes set against light grounds. Each rosette repeated across the field carries garden symbolism common throughout Turkish weaving: turquoise for protection and water, soft mauve for refinement, and gold for prosperity — layered together into a field meant to feel like an endless blooming garden.

Carried into your home, this rug brings that same richness and craftsmanship — a floor piece with real color, detail, and presence.
