✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey. Each semicircle is individually cut from an authentic hand-knotted Turkish carpet, carefully washed and restored, and finished with durable edging.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This is the most romantic semicircle we have ever listed.

The field is a warm peach apricot — soft, luminous, and deeply aged — the color of late afternoon light on old plaster, of dried roses, of the inside of a seashell. At the very top of the curved edge, a partial ornate medallion appears in teal slate blue and ivory, as if you are seeing only the bottom half of something much larger and more elaborate — a detail that gives the whole piece an air of mystery and incompleteness that is somehow more beautiful than any complete composition could be. A wide, classical teal blue and ivory botanical floral scroll border runs along the entire straight base edge, grounding the soft warm field with quiet authority.

The distressing is substantial — decades of genuine use have softened the pile and mellowed the colors into their most romantic register. Peach deepened with warmth. Teal settled into its softest, most dusty tone.
