✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey. Each semicircle is individually cut from an authentic hand-knotted Turkish carpet, carefully washed and restored, and finished with durable edging.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This semicircle is unlike any other in our collection — and it tells you exactly where it came from.

This piece was cut from the border section of a larger vintage Turkish carpet. The result is a composition that reads horizontally in bands rather than as a single unified field: a warm amber golden orange field at the curved top, filled with scrolling vine and botanical floral motifs; a wide sage green and mint center band filled with large, generous ivory and gold flower heads — the kind of bold floral that anchors a border and gives a carpet its frame; a thin chocolate brown accent stripe; and a plain ivory base edge along the straight bottom.

This horizontal, banded composition is completely different from any other half moon rug you will find. It has the character of a fragment — a piece of something larger, carrying the full decorative weight of a carpet's most elaborate section. The amber and sage green color combination is warm, earthy, and completely of its time — a palette that belongs to a specific moment in Turkish weaving history and can never be exactly reproduced.
