✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey. Each semicircle is individually cut from an authentic hand-knotted Turkish carpet, carefully washed and restored, and finished with durable edging.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This semicircle carries one of the most dramatic color contrasts in our entire collection.

Cut from the border section of a larger vintage Turkish carpet, the composition reads in three distinct horizontal bands. At the very top of the curved edge, a bold dark charcoal and near-black border runs across the full width, filled with scrolling floral and vine motifs in warm gold and dusty rose — a dark, elegant frame. Below it, the dusty rose and blush pink of the carpet's main field opens up, warm and feminine. In the lower portion, a large-scale botanical floral composition unfolds in sage green and warm gold yellow — generous, abundant blooms with dark outlines that give the piece its graphic quality. At the straight base edge, a plain ivory cream ground completes the composition.

The dark top border is what makes this piece exceptional. Most vintage half moon rugs are entirely neutral or warm. This one has a dark architectural edge that gives it a boldness and definition unlike anything else in our collection.
