What is Kendir / Burlap Jute?

Kendir is the traditional Anatolian name for jute fiber — a natural plant-based material that has been cultivated and woven into fabric for thousands of years. Historically the material of agricultural sacks used across rural communities, kendir is coarse, breathable, and fully biodegradable. We source genuine vintage kendir sacks, wash them by hand, and give them a new purpose as home decor. Each piece retains the honest texture and character of its original life while finding beauty in a new role.
