✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey. Each semicircle is individually cut from an authentic hand-knotted Turkish carpet, carefully washed and restored, and finished with durable edging.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This semicircle is a garden in miniature.

Cut from the border section of a larger vintage Turkish carpet, the composition reads in distinct horizontal bands — each one a different world. At the curved top, the warm amber golden orange of the carpet's main field appears, filled with scrolling botanical vine and floral motifs, including a generous blush pink rose that anchors the upper right. Below a narrow dividing line, the wide sage green and mint border band opens up — one of the most beautiful border compositions in our entire collection, filled with large ivory cream and warm gold flower heads, generous and unhurried. A thin chocolate and burgundy brown accent stripe runs beneath, and a plain ivory cream base edge completes the composition at the straight bottom.

The amber and sage green color combination is exceptionally warm and earthy — a palette that feels both ancient and completely of the moment. The blush pink rose adds a romantic note that softens the whole composition.
