✦ THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG

This rug was woven by a woman.

Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.

We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.

First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.

What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.

You will never find another exactly like it.

✦ ABOUT THIS RUG

This runner was hand-knotted in the Isparta region of southwestern Turkey, one of the country's most celebrated rug-weaving centers, known for over a century for its dense floral compositions and refined dyeing traditions.

The field is a bold, vibrant hot pink magenta — saturated, luminous, and deeply romantic — centered on a large ornate floral medallion in cobalt blue, itself filled with blush pink roses and ivory botanical details. Above and below the medallion, symmetrical floral bouquets in blush pink and white scatter across the hot pink field. The teal green and ivory botanical scroll borders running across the top and bottom frame the entire composition with confident elegance.

This is a runner for someone who loves color. The hot pink and cobalt blue palette is rare in the vintage rug market — bold enough to anchor a room, romantic enough to soften it.

✦ THE MEANING BEHIND THE PATTERN

The central medallion with scattered floral field is one of the most beloved compositions in the Isparta tradition — a garden anchored by a single point of beauty, from which the rest of the pattern blooms outward. The rose, in Anatolian textile culture, carried deep symbolic weight: love, beauty, the divine garden, the quiet promise of renewal.

In this particular piece, the weaver chose the most vivid palette she could achieve — a hot pink field that would have announced the household's joy and abundance from across the room. The cobalt blue medallion grounds all that warmth with quiet authority, and the teal border gives the whole composition a finishing touch of elegance.

Knotted decades ago, this runner still carries that original warmth and joy — ready to bring the same romantic energy into your hallway, bedroom, or living room.
